UPDATED: Warming centres will be open in Muskoka as extreme cold moves in

If you’re caught out in the cold you’ll have a few places to warm up in Muskoka.

Bracebridge and Gravenhurst are offering a few warming centres as Muskoka heads into a deep freeze for the next few days. You can get inside and get warm at the Gravenhurst Centennial Centre and the Bracebridge Sportsplex. Muskoka Lakes Township is also offering the Port Carling, Walkers Point and Bala municipal buildings as warming centres.

Huntsville residents looking to get out of the cold can head over to the Canada Summit Centre to warm up during regular business hours. It’s open from 6:00am until midnight every day. The District of Muskoka is urging anyone without a warm place to go overnight to call 705-645-2412 for help.

Environment Canada says we can expect the extreme cold to last until Sunday.
