Miller says its the individual stories that could influence a decision on Hydro rate increases

Norm Miller is pushing Muskokans to speak up against proposed Hydro One rate increases. The Ontario Energy Board is in Muskoka next week holding a public meeting, as Hydro One is asking for approval to jack up its delivery rates.

If the OEB approves the plan, the increases would start in 2018 at an extra $2.79 per month. Miller says by 2022, the increases will add up to a total of $141 a month for the average homeowner.

Hydro One has said it needs to do this so it can invest in aging infrastructure across Ontario, but Miller says many people say Hydro bills are already too expensive.

Miller says its the individual stories that are really important.

He says it’s important for the OEB to hear that, so it can hopefully reject the newly planned increase. Anyone in Parry Sound or Muskoka is welcome at the meeting, but if you want to present contact the OEB at 1-877-632-2727 or email [email protected] and quote OEB file number EB-2017-0049.

The meeting at the Bracebridge Sportsplex on Thursday, July 13th from 6:30pm to 8:30pm.
