A local Bracebridge woman who has suffered from Cystic Fibrosis her entire life has undergone a double lung transplant and is now recovering in Toronto. 20 year old Erin Cobean’s lung donor was found within hours after she went on the registry – the surgery happened at Toronto General Hospital yesterday and her mom Nicole says things went well. A Trust Fund’s been set up to help the family with costs they’ll incur over the next three months, as they’ll have to travel to Toronto for appointments 3-5 times a week.

Nicole Cobean says her daughter will likely be shocked when she realizes she’ll now be able to breathe on her own. “Without a donor, Erin would not be where she is today,” she said, adding that she thanks all those who have provided their support and prayers through this difficult time.
