Bracebridge woman fined for obstructing OSPCA investigation into a horse

A Bracebridge woman who reportedly attempted to hide a horse from OSPCA investigators has pleaded guilty to obstruction of an investigation.
On October 4th, 53-year-old Jan Darley pleaded guilty in court in Parry Sound.
OSPCA officials say she was visited by investigators last October, while following up on a complaint, and was told to provide better living conditions for the horse.
According to details, the animal had been discovered in a 20 to 30 foot diameter pen with no shelter from the elements.
When investigators followed up, they couldn’t find the horse and officials say Darley had told others she would be hiding the animal.
The horse has been found and placed with new owners and Darley was fined $250 for the charge.
