Police officer found not responsible for a Barrie man being seriously injured

A Barrie Police officer is not criminally responsible for a Barrie man being seriously injured in a police chase.
The Special Investigation Unit reviewed the case of the man who had been seriously injured in November, when he fell after attempting to jump a retaining wall while he fled from police.
SIU officials say the man’s fall was a result of him attempting to avoid being arrested.
The man had ran into the woods off Anne Street after he collided with an SUV while running a stop sign.
Officials say he climbed a retaining wall and then fell eight metres to the ground.
The officer in question had given chase, but investigators ruled from evidence the suspect had no idea he was being chased.
The investigation was kicked off after he was taken to Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre and was diagnosed with bleeding to the brain.
