Township Mayor would Like Equal Representation at District Level

A township mayor believes there is unequal representation at the District of Muskoka.

During the regular council meeting earlier this week, Lake of Bays Mayor Bob Young spoke to staff about how townships have fewer representatives at the district level. Currently, municipalities in the district hold 12 votes, while townships only get 10.

Young believes giving an extra vote would make it equal for all parties at the table.

Currently, the Townships of Lake Bays and Georgian Bay are the only ones which have 10 votes.

Young will look for support from municipalities on this proposal, and is expecting to speak at council meetings.
