Former Huntsville Otters Head Coach Remembers Playing Against Gordie Howe

A former NHL player and Huntsville resident remembers Gordie Howe.

On Friday morning, Mr. Hockey passed away at the age of 88. The Saskatchewan native played 32 years in professional hockey and spent most of it with the Detroit Red Wings.

Former Huntsville Otters Head Coach and Huntsville resident Tom McCarthy made his debut with Minnesota in 1979, which was Howe’s last season in the league.

McCarthy says his very first game was against the hall of famer.

McCarthy says nobody represented the league better than Howe and he will be greatly missed.
