Township Fully Supports Public Washroom Facility in Dwight

The Township of Lake of Bays is supporting a public washroom project provided by the Dwight Lions Club.

During yesterday’s council meeting, staff members were asked to support a 660 square foot public washroom plan to be built on Dwight Bay Road. So far the Lions Club has raised $8,000 for the project with hopes to start digging for spring 2017. Lake of Bays Mayor Bob Young says this was a no brainer to support the plan.

Mayor Young says they applied for a grant but were unable to receive it because the facility is being built on township land, something that confused him.

The township has also agreed to help look for grants and other financial support to get all the assistance needed for the project. They hope to have it complete for Canada’s 150th Birthday as well as the Lions Club’s 100th anniversary.
