Emsdale Man Faces $2,000 Fine for Shooting a Gun on a Public Street

A man from Emsdale has been fined $2,000 for shooting his rifle on a public street.

Last November, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry says they set up a deer decoy along Bevan Road, just west of Kearney. The reason was to help address complaints about unsafe hunting practices in the area, including shooting from vehicles and across roadways.

Later that day, the man was seen driving his off-road vehicle in the area and shot at the decoy twice. He was then arrested by police.

The man was fined for unsafe hunting practices and his rifle was permanently taken away.
