The cause of a coach bus fire, just outside Georgian Bay Township, is being investigated by police.

Officials report that the Trentway-Wagar was travelling near Crooked Bay Road when the rear passenger tire blew and the bus was forced to pull over.

The driver evacuated the passengers as the bus caught fire.

There were 40 kids between the ages of 12 and 16 and three adults.

Police say there were attempts to control the fire with a fire extinguisher but the bus was eventually destroyed.

One of the children received minor injuries and was taken to hospital.

Firefighters remained at the scene until the bus was safe to be towed.

There are still no details on the cause of the fire.
