Parry Sound-Muskoka MP Tony Clement is devastated by the news of Jim Flaherty’s death. Clement says he knew the former finance minster for about 25 years.

Working with Flaherty on a provincial and federal level over the years, Clement says he has some really great memories, which includes preparing the budget right along side him.

The 64-year-old stepped down as finance minster last month. Although he had said it wasn’t because of his heath, Clement says it must have weighed on Flaherty’s mind.

Flaherty had a rare skin disease and was taking steroids to treat it. Police and Emergency crews were called to Flaherty’s home in Ottawa just before 12:30pm Thursday. No cause of death has been confirmed.
