Bracebridge’s bylaw department is recommending council approve a new Burning Control by-law. Fire Chief Murray Medley says the department has had calls about slash pile burns where people are roasting garbage and it causes nuisance to their neighbours. One of the biggest changes in the by-law is to ban daytime burning for recreational open-air fires. If approved, these fires would not be allowed between 8am and 6pm, but could happen after that. The by-law will be decided on in the near future.
