Invasive beetle poised to enter Muskoka region

A nasty metallic green beetle is spelling doom for Ash trees in northern Ontario.
Originally from Asia, the Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) is causing havoc on Ash trees in Barrie and is moving further north, according to officials.
Jenn LeMesurier with Muskoka Conservancy says they’ll be setting detection traps in Bracebridge next week.
The Conservancy will be hanging the traps Monday morning outside the Visitor Information Centre with Mayor Graydon Smith present at 9 a.m.
On August 4th at 7 p.m. the Conservancy will hold a workshop on these beetles at the Sportsplex in Bracebridge.
