Contamination issue at new Bracebridge Fire Hall site

Moving the Station 1 Fire Hall in Bracebridge will only happen after a clean up at the new site. 225 Taylor Road has been identified as having some contamination from when Hydro One owned it – namely diesel fuel in the ground. More from Bracebridge Fire Chief Murray Medley…

Last night, councilors met to hear about plans to move the current hall from its Dominion Street location. The cost for the cleanup will be included in the overall price of the project and a deal to buy the new property is nearing completion. In the meantime, District Emergency Services Management Coordinator Terri Burton says the new site will be ideal for emergency response times. A new District EMS base is slated for the Taylor Road location too.

Medley hopes construction will start within a year and a half.
