Police have removed over 41,000 illegal cigarettes from our streets.

On Valentine’s Day, West Parry Sound OPP stopped a vehicle on Highway 69 just north of Pointe-au-Baril and police could smell a strong odour of marijuana so they arrested everyone in the vehicle.

After searching the vehicle, officers found 41, 204 contraband cigarettes along with a small amount of marijuana.

As a result, a 28-year-old woman and a 27-year-old man from Hamilton were charged with possession of unmarked cigarettes and possession of unmarked cigarettes for the purpose of sale and they’ll face those charges at the end of April.

In addition, the man was charged with possession of under 30 grams of marijuana which he’ll face on March 6th.
