Huntsville Fire Department sends a strong message to building owners

Huntsville’s Fire Department is asking building owners to make sure
exit doors and pathways are clear of snow. The snowfall we’ve seen is
creating safety hazards by blocking alternate means of escape for
tenants. The Ontario Fire Code says all exterior passageways,
stairways and fire escapes must be free of snow and ice and it’s up to
landlords and building owners to comply. Exits should be cleared at
least the width of each exit door and exit paths should lead to the
nearest public walkway. If you see any blocked building exits, notify
building management immediately.
