Huntsville retirement home declares outbreak

HUNTSVILLE, ON-The Chartwell Muskoka Traditions Retirement Home has declared a COVID-19 outbreak after one resident was confirmed to have the virus.

Yesterday, the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit (SMDHU) updated their current cases to include a woman in her 90’s who is a resident at Chartwell.

Sharon Ranalli from Chartwell told the MyMuskokaNow.com newsroom that, as of now, there is only one resident who is a confirmed case.  

It was confirmed that the home is following infection control protocols, enhanced resident monitoring such as temperature and symptom checks, active screening of staff, establishing isolation strategies in the building, delivering meals to suites, closing off common areas, having residents remain in their rooms, and using personal protective equipment (PPE).

The home aims to continue to follow all recommendations of the Chief Medical Officer and Public Health and will remain in contact with families to keep them updated.
