Nine-year-old Huntsville boy creates his own business and supports childhood cancer research

A nine-year-old Huntsville boy is selling step stools for a good cause. Owen Armstrong has launched a business, creating non-toxic and sustainable step stools for kids with his company called The Nice Bench.

Armstrong donates $10 of every sale to childcare cancer research, which is a cause close to his own heart.

The idea was born when Armstrong built a step stool for his little sister. Others loved it, and he built 12 more. From there, the company was created. It was officially launched in April of 2017 on Facebook.

The nine-year-old says he works with family to build the stools.

The Childhood Cancer Canada Foundation says only five per cent of cancer research helps kids. But, it says research has still come a long way, as over 80 per cent of children survive today, whereas 40 years ago that number was less than 60 per cent. It also estimates there are around 10,000 children with cancer in Canada.

Armstrong says the company has donated around $600 so far. You can find out more about The Nice Bench on its website.
