Muskoka officials are looking to build an age friendly district for local seniors

A new report in Muskoka could help municipalities provide more support for local seniors.
The District of Muskoka is releasing details on the Master Aging Plan to all six municipalities.
The data was collected from a survey that was released to seniors across Muskoka in June last year.
Karen Quemby with the Master Aging Plan committee says there were a few concerns raised with most of the Muskoka communities.
She says transportation was identified as the biggest issue because of seniors that are living in rural communities and don’t have access to a vehicle.
Quemby says the district hopes this data can be used to help all six Muskoka municipalities build their own age-friendly plans moving forward.
According to district officials, over 23 per cent of Muskokans are 65 or older.
