A Huntsville man has survived an icy rescue on Fairy Lake.
The man was trying to rescue his dog, after it had wandered out on the ice and then he broke through the ice himself.
Huntsville OPP, Huntsville/Lake of Bays Fire and Muskoka Paramedic Services were called out and the man was able to keep himself above water with a kayak until they arrived.
Firefighters went into the water to bring the man back to shore.
The dog was reportedly not harmed in the incident.
Officials say it is never safe to go out on the ice yourself to try and save people or animals.
If you see someone break through the ice you should call 9-1-1 immediately.
