Petticoat Power Cruise to bring Muskoka Wharf back in time over 100 years

The Muskoka Wharf in Gravenhurst is going through a bit of a time warp this weekend.
Don’t be surprised if you see women on soap boxes protesting against booze on cruises and equal voting rights, you haven’t travelled back in time.
Mary Storey with the Muskoka Steamship and Historical Society says as part of the ongoing 150 year celebration of the Muskoka Steamships, there will be some re-enactments happening on the wharf.
Storey adds there will also be a re-enactment of the women calling for temperance on the steamships, which means no booze would be sold.
She says at the time in the late 1800’s there tended to be a lot of issues with alcoholism on the cruises, so AP Cockburn set up a booze-free cruise.
The Petticoat Power Cruise kicks off at 11:45am on Saturday on the Muskoka Wharf.
