High School Graduate to Upgrade a Mazda Miata with help from HHS Students

The plan to build a car in 48 hours or less is almost underway.

Students at Huntsville High School will be working with Hoya graduate Jacob Gettins and his company Pistonhead Productions to rebuild a Mazda Miata, diesel powered in less than 48 hours.

If successful, the vehicle will be raced across North America and Gettins says students are currently tearing apart the stock parts of the Miata.

He says he’s noticing lots of excitement from the students as they get closer to building the car.

Gettins says the project has been in the making for several months and can’t believe it’s actually happening.

He says once the vehicle is raced, it will then be raffled off and all the proceeds will go towards the shop classes at the high school for certain upgrades.

They are looking to transform the vehicle into this:
