Leave alcohol out of the equation when hitting the trails in Muskoka: OPP

Don’t get behind the handlebars drunk.

That’s the message from the OPP as snowmobile season starts taking off in Muskoka. Officials say anyone caught and convicted of driving a snowmobile impaired will face the same consequences as drunk drivers on the road. That includes a hefty fine, losing your driver’s license and even the possibility of jail time.

And you can expect to see OPP officers making use of the trails in the district as well on their own snowmobiles.

Police say the other most important safety tip is to always check for trail conditions before you head out. You can find real-time conditions on the OFSC website.
