Storybook trail at Woodchester vandalized

The storybook trail at Woodchester in Bracebridge has been vandalized less than a week after it was unveiled.

Town officials write in a tweet there have been “several instances” of vandalism since the trail opened on Nov. 3. They say the vandalism has been reported to the Bracebridge OPP.

In addition, Jennifer Clancy, Manager of Economic Development, said at the unveiling ceremony last week  that there are spelling and grammar errors on some of the eight panels. In a tweet from the town, these were called “production errors” and officials say they will be corrected.

“We hope this unfortunate error does not dampen the intended purpose of the project,” they continue.

As of Monday morning, one of the eight panels is wrapped up with “under repair” written on it.

Penny and the Trail of Wonders was written by Courtney Murrell and illustrated by Kristin Wright. The eight panels tell the story of Penny and her dog Ralph. The storybook trail was funded, in part, through a grant from Ontario’s Rural Economic Development fund.
