A dream to memorialize one of Algonquin Park’s most iconic artists is finally becoming reality.
After a year of planning and work, the Tom Thomson Parkway is being unveiled in Lake of Bays. The idea first came from Mayor Bob Young, who was supported by council in his goal to create the memorial for Thomson. Young received approval from the MTO last December to rename a section of Highway 60 from Highway 11 to the Algonquin Park gate.
The Township put aside about $3,000 to pay for the signage. The ceremony will take place at the Lake of Bays town office on September 18th at 11:30am.
