A 24/7 mental health crisis line for youth in Muskoka, Parry Sound and Nipissing has launched. In collaboration with youth, Hands TheFamilyHealthNetwork.ca, Simcoe Muskoka Family Connexions and Community Counselling Centre of Nipissing helped create the line. Director of Child and Youth Services at Hands, Michelle Dermenjian says the line will connect anyone under 18 or their parents with a trained respondent at Community Connection 2-1-1 Ontario who will listen and connect them with the help they need.
Dermenjian says the toll-free phone line will eliminate barriers to getting help.
Dermenjian says Hands listened to youth to create the best possible service. She adds youth played a big role in developing and marketing the crisis line.
