Bracebridge to provide specialized public transit service in conjunction with regular route

Bracebridge General Committee has passed a resolution to allow J.W. Ferguson to provide specialized public transit for the next two years.
As part of offering the community the in-town transit service, the town is required to provide a specialized transit service that will pick up residents with mobility issues at their door.
The service will charge just over $15 per trip and the town will be on the hook to cover the first six months of costs whether the transit vehicle gets used or not.
Director of Public Works Walter Schmid told General Committee the service would be able to provide up to 22 rides per day.
During the General Committee meeting, town staff mentioned that Muskoka Community Living had expressed a strong interest in utilizing the service.
The town will have the option to review the service, its fare and all the other details in two years.
This resolution is expected to be ratified during the next council meeting.
