Three 14-year-olds and one 15-year-old have been charged following a crime spree in Muskoka.
According to police, between the evening of July 28 and the early morning of Wednesday, July 29, Bracebridge and Huntsville OPP officers responded to several calls for service involving break-and-enters and stolen vehicles.
Police said that at approximately 10:30 p.m., Huntsville officers responded to an alarm at a business on Main Street West after a window was smashed and a vehicle was stolen from the property.
At 1:20 a.m., police said Bracebridge officers responded to a report of people attempting to enter a car on Maple Street in Port Carling. However, the witness honked at them, and they fled the scene.
An hour later, at 2:15 a.m., police said Bracebridge officers responded to an alarm at a business on Lake Joseph Road in Georgian Bay Township, where it was discovered that a vehicle had also been stolen from that property.
As officers were patrolling the area, the OPP said they saw the stolen vehicles on Carr Road in Port Carling; however, the suspects had fled on foot.
After a search conducted by the Emergency Response Team (ERT) along with the OPP K9 unit, police said officers were able to locate and arrest the four suspects.
As a result, two 14-year-old boys from Huntsville were charged with three counts of mischief, two counts of break and enter and theft of a motor vehicle, and one count of possession of property obtained by crime.
Additionally, two girls, aged 14 and 15, were each charged with one count of possession of property obtained by crime.
An OPP investigation is ongoing. All four accused are slated to appear in youth court on Sept. 3.
