West Nipissing woman charged after driving with obstructed windshield

A 38-year-old West Nipissing woman has been charged after driving with an obstructed windshield.

According to police, on Oct. 19 at about 12:30 p.m., the Huntsville OPP saw a car travelling well below the posted speed limit southbound on Highway 11 near Allensville Road.

Police said the car had its hood open, which covered the entire windshield, while travelling on the highway.

Police said after they spotted the car, officers used a police cruiser to make gentle contact with the vehicle and guide the car safely onto the southbound shoulder.

As a result, the woman was charged with:

  • Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle
  • Driving while suspended
  • Failing to stop for police
  • Driving with cannabis readily available
  • Operating a motor vehicle with no Insurance
  • Driving a motor vehicle with an obstructed windshield

Police said no injuries were reported and only minor damage was caused to one police cruiser.

The accused is scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 17.
