Trans Canada Trail between Ecclestone Drive and Liza Crescent in Bracebridge reopens

The Trans Canada Trail between Ecclestone Drive and Liza Crescent in Bracebridge reopened on May 26 after being closed for nearly two years.

According to Town of Bracebridge officials, the trail was closed in June 2024 due to public safety concerns.

Officials said a routine condition assessment of park amenities, conducted in consultation with a structural engineer, identified deficiencies with the boardwalk and staircase that could impact community safety.

As a result, fencing was installed to close access to the trail, and residents and visitors were asked to follow all on-site signage and use a trail detour.

Fencing and signage have officially been removed from the site. However, officials said a section near Ecclestone Drive will be taped off to give the new grass a chance to settle and grow.

Town staff said the repairs and rehabilitation project of the boardwalk was part of the 2025 Municipal Budget.
