Moose FM’s two Muskoka stations raised over $467,000 for the region’s two hospital foundations during their 2026 Thanksgiving Radiothons on Oct. 9.
After 12 hours on air, Huntsville’s 105.5 Moose FM raised $350,554 for the Huntsville Hospital Foundation (HHF), while Bracebridge’s 99.5 Moose FM raised $116,734 for the South Muskoka Hospital Foundation (SMHF).
Katherine Craine, Chief Executive Officer at HHF, was in the Huntsville studio all day along with other foundation representatives.
“This has been the most incredible year for the Huntsville Hospital Foundation, and for this community, the outpouring of support from everyone is so incredible… from major donors to donors that are just there for us all the time,” Craine said.
The funds raised in raised in Huntsville will go towards the Raise Muskoka campaign, a community-driven fundraiser to support the construction of a new Huntsville hospital, named after the late philanthropist and healthcare advocate Bob Hutcheson.
“I can’t help but think about our Bob Hutcheson, and he’s up there in heaven saying ‘wow, this is great. Way to go.’ Our new hospital is going to be the most amazing hospital. I just want to thank everyone so much. Thanks so much to Moose FM, and everyone that is here every year…the support, the passion, the tears, have just been amazing as usual.”
Leah Walker, executive director of the SMHF, was also at the Bracebridge studio throughout the day. She said the event highlighted the community’s compassion and generosity, adding that the support and momentum from local donors help keep the foundation going.
“I am over the moon. We not only reached but surpassed our goal. We had a hefty $100,000 goal and we’ve blown past that,” said Walker.
Walker said the funds will go toward emergency care equipment and resources for both the emergency department and the departments that support its operations.
Donations are still being accepted on the HHF and SMHF websites.
