The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit (SMDHU) has launched a phone survey to collect public feedback on current health issues affecting the region.
According to local health officials, the survey is being conducted by the Institute for Social Research at York University on behalf of the SMDHU to better understand regional health priorities.
Officials say it will collect data on various public health topics, including health behaviours, knowledge, and attitudes regarding tobacco, alcohol, and cannabis use, vaccinations, climate change, food insecurity, and other critical regional issues.
Data collected will be used to develop strategic plans and improve public health programs that support disease prevention and promote health initiatives, according to officials.
Health officials said callers will not be asking for personally identifying information, health card numbers, or any financial and banking details.
The survey is open to adults 18 and older living in the Muskoka region. Participation is voluntary and requires only about 10 minutes.
