District of Muskoka working to improve how residents find information and access municipal services

The District of Muskoka is working on ways to make it easier for residents, businesses, and visitors to access municipal services and find information.

According to officials, the district is working on a Service Excellence project supported through the Rural Ontario Development (ROD) program.

“Whether you are looking for information, starting a business, applying for a permit, or registering for programs, this work is focused on making it easier for people to find what they need and get things done,” said Jeff Lehman, District Chair.

Officials said the project aims to improve access to online information and services, making it easier to find information and complete tasks on the District website while reducing confusion about where to go for information and support.

It also seeks to create a simpler, more user-friendly experience when interacting with the District.

To achieve this, officials said the District is working on creating a new website, along with improvements to online services and service standards. They added that ongoing community engagement will help guide future improvements.

The District’s new website is expected to launch in late 2026, with service improvement work continuing beyond the launch.
