Classic Cottage Weekend raises $38,000 for Mike Brown Fund and Mind-Aid Muskoka

The second annual Classic Cottage Golf and Concert event, held on June 20 at the Deerhurst Resort, raised $38,000 for the Mike Brown Fund and MiND-AID Muskoka.

The event raised a total of $33,000 for The Children’s Foundation of Muskoka and $5,000 for MiND-AID.

Myke Malone, co-organizer, said they chose those two charities because they go “hand in hand to support our youth here in Muskoka.”

“With the Mike Brown Foundation, Mike really believed in the benefits…of getting children involved in sport at a young age, and not everybody financially can afford to do that,” said Malone. “Mind-Aid fits in there as well, because it is once again supporting our youth here in Muskoka that do have their challenges with mental health.”

Mike Brown Foundation officials said these funds will open the door for countless local youth to get involved in sports, building confidence, friendships, and memories that will last a lifetime.

Malone said they had about 188 golfers between the two golf courses at Deerhurst, the Highlands and the Lakeside.

“It was an exceptional day,” said Malone. “We raised some great funds. Everybody had a great time.”
