Muskoka 100 People Who Care raises more than $10,000 for Alzheimer Society of Muskoka

Muskoka 100 People Who Care raised $10,100 for the Alzheimer Society of Muskoka at its second charity event of the year.

The event took place on Aug. 26 at the Windermere Golf and Country Club.

The group of local philanthropists hosts two community fundraising events each year to support local charities.

Members who attend pledge $100, with the funds raised during the event going to the charity that receives the most votes from the three organizations selected to participate.

At each event, participating charities can present their work and highlight their impact in the community. Attendees then vote to decide which charity receives the funds raised.

According to officials, this year’s selected charities were Hope Arises Project Inc., Simcoe Muskoka Family Connexions, and the Alzheimer Society of Muskoka.

Officials said an anonymous donor contributed $2,500 to Hope Arises Project Inc. and $2,500 to Simcoe Muskoka Family Connexions during the event.

“What began as an evening of connection and learning became something even more meaningful — a powerful reminder of what happens when people come together with compassion, generosity, and a shared desire to make a difference,” said officials.

The first charity event was held in June and raised more than $9,400 for Enliven Cancer Care – Muskoka & Parry Sound, bringing the group’s total charitable donations for the year to $19,500.
