Bracebridge launches survey on exotic animal by-law

Bracebridge is seeking feedback on a long-standing by-law.

The town is asking residents to sound off on its Exotic and Wild Animal Control By-Law, which has been in place since 2002. Officials say it covers animals that are not usually kept as pets or not indigenous to Canada, such as monkeys, crocodiles, and moose.

They add a review is needed to “address community interest, education and safety.” Last year, Bracebridge council had given a wildlife educator permission to run educational sessions at Santa’s Village.

The survey’s deadline is May 13.
