Fire bans lifted in Haliburton and Muskoka, but still no daytime burning allowed

The fire ban has been lifted in Muskoka and Haliburton, but the rating is still high.

That means, while you’re allowed to light small fires at night, everyone is still prohibited from burning during the day as conditions are still fairly dry. The heavy rainfall on Tuesday helped lift these fire bans, but further north in Parry Sound and Almaguin, the bans are still in place. Anyone travelling to the Almaguin area, including Kearney, Emsdale or Sprucedale areas, is banned from lighting fires day or night.

If you’re not sure whether your home or cottage is in a burn restricted area right now, give your local fire department a call.
