Local business auctions off jersey to raise funds for Fort McMurray residents

Two Bracebridge business owners are looking to help raise funds for those in need in Fort McMurray.

Trevor Murray and Jodi Reidl, owners of Muskoka Collectables, are looking to auction off a special hockey jersey to raise the funds.

Reidl says many families in Fort McMurray were left with nothing but the clothes on their backs.

The Jersey is a signed copy of the 2006 Team Canada Women’s Hockey team, who picked up a gold medal in Torino.

Anyone interested in making a bid on the Jersey can stop by Muskoka Collectables over the next week.

Reidl says she hopes to see other businesses in Muskoka start similar initiatives to help out.

All McDonalds across Muskoka will be donating $1 from every Big Mac sale this weekend towards the Fort McMurray relief effort as well.
