MUSKOKA, ON-The health unit is encouraging families to record their child’s immunization records online so that they can be easily accessed.
This past year the Simcoe Muskoka District Health unit has been pushing families to record and be aware of the online tool they have established that keeps track of your child’s immunization records so that schools will be able to access them and be sure your child is up to date on vaccines.
In an interview with the MyMuskokaNow.com newsroom, Deanna Thompson the Immunization Program Manager with the Simcoe Muskoka District health Unit,   said that every student needs to have up to date immunization records so that they can go to school. “This is part of the Immunization of School Peoples Act so we at the health unit are monitoring children to make sure they are healthy,” said Thompson.
Thompson recommends that any immunization that either you or your child has, gets reported to the health unit so they can help you keep track of what you are protected against.
Thompson went on to say that when a child enrolls in a school, the school will ask for their immunization records so that they can attend classes. “If a child is not up to date, and is given several warnings, they could be suspended until they are immunized,” said Thompson.
The immunization tracker can also let you know what vaccines you need to get and where you can obtain them.
