Gravenhurst car show to celebrate 100 years of Chevrolet trucks

Gravenhurst, ON – Anyone still wondering what to do with Dad for the Father’s Day in Muskoka need look no further.

The annual Father’s Day Car Show is entering the 26th year this Saturday at the Gull Lake Rotary Park in Gravenhurst.

The event is being put on by the Gravenhurst Chamber of Commerce. Chris Hammer is the marketing and communications coordinator with the organization.

He said this year is a bit more special than years past.

“This year we are celebrating 100 years of the Chevy truck,” Hammer said. “We will also have Thomas Douglas from Restoration Garage which is a show on The History Channel.”

Hammer said the theme was chosen because it was something the car guys really wanted to talk about. He added the entire show won’t be just Chevrolet trucks though.

There are already 550 vehicles registered and he believes this year’s show will have more cars than last year’s 600.

“People don’t have to register,” Hammer said. “The only reason why they register is because they can be entered into a draw to win a $500 gift certificate. They can just show up the day of the event with a vehicle and come to our registration booth.”

People looking to attend the event just to check out the vehicles don’t have to pay for entry, but Hammer said a monetary donation is appreciated. There will be no ATM at the event itself so he advised that people coming bring cash.

Anyone looking to volunteer is out of luck though. Hammer said they are completely full.

“People love volunteering for this event and we are happy to have a big group again this year,” Hammer said.

The show starts at 9 a.m. and ends at 4 p.m.
