Muskoka Lakes council is hoping to set up a traffic safety zone for Watt Public School.
The municipality will be reaching out to the Ministry of Transportation, looking to designate the safety zone on Highway 141. The township is also looking at designating the safety zone on Fish Hatchery Road. The municipality has received numerous calls from concerned parents about speeding vehicles where students may be crossing the road. Drivers caught speeding in designated community safety zones can have fines doubled by police.
The town would need to spend about $1,500 on signage for the section of road on Fish Hatchery, the MTO would likely cover the cost of signage on Highway 141.
