Two regional groups are pairing up to ensure boaters remain safe and respectful on Muskoka lakes and rivers this summer.
On Friday, OPP and Safe Quiet Lakes advocacy group kicked off the Safe Quiet Lakes campaign.
The campaign is meant to remind boaters to remain respectful of other boaters, lake users and cottagers while out on the water by cutting down on excessive noise from power boats.
OPP is also reminding boaters that it is illegal to operate a boat without a proper muffler.
Many Muskoka residents and cottagers in the region have expressed their concern with the amount of noise from powerboats over the summer.
Over the summer, the OPP Marine Unit will be conducting safety checks and offering education to boaters while on the lakes in Muskoka.
