The General Manager of Deerhurst Resort believes it was right to cancel the 2016 Canadian National Pond Hockey Championships.
The resort was where the tournament was to be hosted and due to the mild temperatures, officials with both the event and the resort had to pull the plug.
Chris Lund is the General Manager of Deerhurst and says the conditions were not safe.
Normally in years past, this weekend is one of the coldest and Lund says that isn’t the case this year.

He says there are guests still wanting to come and stay even though there is not a tournament.
Lund says management and staff are working hard to gather other activities to accommodate the guests who are still making the trip despite the cancellation of the tournament.
