Emergency water repairs set to begin in Huntsville

Emergency repairs to a leaking water valve are taking place tonight (Sept. 22) at the intersection of Allison’s Point Road and Highway 60 in Huntsville.

The District of Muskoka says a portion of the water distribution system must be isolated to allow crews to safely complete the repairs. Residents and businesses in the affected area may experience reduced water pressure while the work is underway, but a complete loss of water service is not expected.

District officials say the affected areas include Highway 60 east of Allison’s Point Road, Golden Pheasant Drive, Phillip Crescent, Fairy Lake Circle, and all properties in the Hidden Valley settlement area.

The District is asking residents and businesses to conserve water until normal service has been restored, and to turn off time-delayed water systems, including dishwashers, coffee makers, and lawn sprinklers.

Once water service returns, officials advise running the cold water tap in their basement laundry room, or the tap closest to their water meter and main shut-off valve. Some discolouration or cloudiness may occur after service is restored and should clear on its own.

Anyone whose water does not clear, or who has questions about the repairs, is asked to contact the District Municipality of Muskoka.
