Work continues on King William Street reconstruction in downtown Huntsville

Construction is continuing on King William Street in downtown Huntsville, with crews moving ahead on underground infrastructure and road preparation.

Throughout this week (Aug. 31 to Sept. 4), officials say crews will continue work on sanitary sewer, storm sewer, and watermain infrastructure, with watermain testing and commissioning scheduled to be completed by the end of the week.

Road building will also continue in preparation for upcoming paving, along with the installation of underground infrastructure for traffic signals.

Last week, crews completed the installation of the watermain and storm sewer. Road grading and compaction were also carried out to create a stable surface ahead of paving.

Officials are advising residents that traffic patterns may change throughout the week depending on construction progress, but all businesses within the project limits remain open and accessible.

Drivers are being reminded to use caution and follow all posted signs and directions from staff while travelling through the area.
