Construction is progressing on the Purbrook Bridge replacement project.
According to Town of Bracebridge officials, the contractor has completed initial site preparation, including erosion control, the installation of turtle exclusion fencing, and removal of the existing road surface.
Over the next three weeks crews will focus on preparing the foundation and supporting structures for the new bridge. This work will include: excavation for the new spread footings, installation of pile foundations, construction of the cast-in-place bridge footings and abutment, and the installation of precast ballast walls.
Traffic will continue to move through the area during this phase, with occasional disruptions.
Officials said the new prefabricated bridge is expected to be delivered and installed by early November. This will require a scheduled night-time road closure to safely accommodate the delivery and installation. Additional details will be provided once the schedule is confirmed.
