Cindy O’Regan has been awarded the Canadian Parks and Recreation Association (CPRA) Award of Merit.
O’Regan, the former Director of Recreation at the Town of Bracebridge, retired in 2025 after over a decade-long career in municipal recreation.
The award honours individuals, organizations, community groups, and corporations in each province and territory for their contributions and impact on the parks and recreation sector at the local, regional, and national levels.
During her 11 years, officials say she led transformative improvements to recreation services, facilities, and programs, helping establish Bracebridge as a leader in community recreation.
The town says among her many accomplishments, O’Regan served as project lead for the Muskoka Lumber Community Centre, the largest infrastructure project in the Town’s history.
Additionally, officials share she helped remove financial barriers to recreation through the Leisure Access Program, introduced free recreation memberships for residents over 90, and led the development of the Town’s first Recreation Master Plan, among other initiatives.
Town of Bracebridge Mayor Rick Maloney presented the award on behalf of the CPRA during the July 16 Town Council meeting.
