Dancing on the Dock series returns to Huntsville

The Huntsville Town Docks will come alive with music and dancing this summer as the Dancing on the Dock series returns for another season.

Hosted by the Huntsville Festival of the Arts (HfA), the free community dance sessions will be held every Thursday at 7 p.m. through August 13. Each evening will feature experienced instructors teaching a different style of social dance, including salsa, tango, swing, square, and line dancing.

According to officials, select nights will also feature special guest musicians performing live.

Organizers say the event is open to everyone from newcomers to experienced dancers, and the sessions are a fun way to learn a new skill while connecting with others in the community.

HfA Artistic Director Dan Watson said the program’s debut last year was so successful that they decided to bring it back this year.

“It worked so well… the feedback was great, people loved it so much,” Watson said. “There will be an instructor there to show you some of the steps, and then we throw the music on, and you get to dance the night away.”

Officials say pre-registration is encouraged but not required.
