Nuit Blanche North returns to downtown Huntsville

Nuit Blanche North is returning to Huntsville for its 14th annual celebration of creativity and artistic discovery.

Hosted by the Huntsville Festival of the Arts (HfA), the free festival takes place Saturday (July 18) from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. This year’s theme, Into the Wild, will transform streets, parks, and public spaces throughout the downtown core into immersive artistic experiences.

Officials say the event has become a signature part of Muskoka’s summer festival season, offering opportunities for everyone to join the fun.

“We’ve got everything from buskers and performers to interactive art and activities,” said HfA Artistic Director Dan Watson. “There’s all kinds of different activities where you can get your hands dirty and make things and enjoy yourself.”

The festival will feature four themed activity zones spread across downtown.

Zone One on Main Street will include karaoke, juggling, face painting, quilt making, and a variety of interactive art installations.

Zone Two, also located on Main Street, will feature buskers showcasing juggling, hoops, and acrobatics, along with sewing activities, silk-screen printing, and an outdoor vinyl experience.

Zone Three at River Mill Park will include live bands, a glow-in-the-dark foam zone, a drumming circle, and a light show.

Zone Four at the Town Docks will showcase an aerial circus performance, pyrotechnics show, dance performances, and more.

Information tents will be located on Main Street and at River Mill Park with staff who can provide event information, lost and found, and first aid kits.

The Town of Huntsville is advising residents that Main Street East from Centre Street to Brunel Road and the River Mill parking lot will be closed on the day of the event.Traffic barricades and detour signage will be in place, and motorists are encouraged to plan ahead.
