YMCA Move to Give Campaign raises over $160,000

The YMCA of Simcoe/Muskoka has successfully concluded its 12th annual Move to Give campaign, raising more than $160,000.

The fundraising initiative, which ran from April 11 to 18, featured a variety of customized community events designed to raise awareness and support programs and services across Simcoe, Muskoka, and Parry Sound.

Officials say more than 1,000 participants took part in this year’s campaign, and activities included pickleball tournaments, cycle-a-thons, rubber duck races, swim-a-thons, and fitness relays.

Funds raised will go toward employment and learning services, childcare, youth camps, language programs, health and fitness opportunities, and more.

“It was incredible to see the support from our communities once again for this exciting fundraising event,” said Jill Tettmann, President and CEO of the YMCA of Simcoe/Muskoka. “Participants of all ages came together to celebrate and support the YMCA, some for the 12th year in a row. We are deeply moved by the support and generosity of the community.”

Officials say this year’s funds far surpassed their fundraising goal of $100,000, and donations are still coming in.
